Dear Portage Path CLC Families.
I begin this letter of introduction with a smile on my face and a sense of ‘home’ in my heart. I am beginning this letter by introducing myself as the new principal of Portage Path CLC.
I am truly grateful for Akron Public School encouraging my continued growth as an educator with this new opportunity. All of my experiences within Akron have made me the educator I am now. Watching both of my parents work in Akron public schools when I was young, I knew what type of teacher I wanted to be. Working as a teacher at Kenmore, Litchfield, and Miller South, I grew as an educator and as a father. Continuing with my family into supporting buildings like Betty Jane, Hatton, Portage Path, and Helen Arnold community learning centers allowed me to become the leader and family man I am today.
This is my third call to Portage Path CLC. As I began my administrative journey, I worked under Kim Wilson. Then, again, I came back with Kim Summers to Portage Path CLC as she replaced Kim Wilson and began Portage Path’s IB journey. Now, as principal, I begin my journey with you continuing the great work of these two amazing former leaders.
I believe that the principal sets the ‘breath’ within the building, and I believe in the golden rule. I believe my central rule within the building is the safety of the children and the progression of the ‘whole child’. I believe a goal of any educational atmosphere is to have the students leave the building ‘better’ than when they entered. I believe that every child deserves a great education not by chance but by design, and I believe that it takes a village in order to bring our next generation together.
I am so happy to be back ‘home’ and once again in the hallways of an awesome community building. I hope to get a chance to learn from you and alongside you, your child/student, and the fabulous staff at Portage Path CLC.
In your service.
