Portage Path IB World School Philosophy

Portage Path Community Learning Center is organized to provide an environment where children are given opportunities to grow at their own rate— physically, emotionally, scholastically, socially, and culturally.

Our school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) which offers a student-centered, transdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach. Student agency and taking action with what they learn is at the core of our program.

Through our program of inquiry and by reflecting on learning, our students develop knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the learner profile attributes. We use a constructivist approach with an emphasis on collaborative inquiry and integrative learning and we honor curiosity, student voice, choice and ownership of learning.

  Our school is a partnership of community, parents, and school staff who are committed to nurturing children and helping them grow and take ownership of their learning.
